Gangland previewed by peng

Once upon a time, there were five brothers called Romano, Angelo, Sonny, Chico and Mario. They all grew up in Sicily with their grandparents. As they grew older three of the brothers became more and more unsatisfied with their quiet life and on a sunny afternoon they decided to murder their own brother Chico in a fight. By doing so they were forced to flee the Mediterranean area. The obvious choice is, of course, America, land of opportunities where they all began their own criminal career.

Grandpa, left in Sicily with a dead grandson was very upset. So he sends out his fourth grandson to hunt down the three malicious brothers and avenge the murder of Chico. You are set up to meet your uncle Vincente as soon as you arrive in America. This is where the game starts. As a true member of the mob you have to find a wife, marry her and get some kids to assure the future of your family. This isn’t all that easy, finding a wife that is. After a while some women will come and claim your hand in marriage, but you can always decline it if she isn’t to your likings.

You could start by building up some respect in the local community. Build yourself a team by recruiting some mean looking mofo’s on the street. You have to fight your way through very diverse missions that can vary from killing a single man into blowing up entire buildings. Of course you can buy items and guns to assist you in these crimes; flamethrowers, machineguns, grenades, a pack of C4, you name it. You can even trade items with NPC’s. You can run, duck, hide, heal and reload your mobsters. This is a critical part of the game. You can’t just point and click on a target. You have to deal this with a lot more care and devotion, otherwise you’re dead meat. You can even use vehicles as a transport if it it necessary.

This is actually a nice mix of both RGP as RTS elements that form an excellent game. We can expect this Gangster’s Paradise at Christmas this year.
