Layoffs at LucasArts confirmed
During its company wide downsizing, LucasArts has laid off key members of the team that was working on Star Wars: The Force Unleashed including people that were working at LucasArts even back in the days of X-Wing, Full Throttle, and Grim Fandango.
We spoke with one now ex-member of the team, who told us that the layoffs came just as work on the game was wrapping up. Our source, who wished not to be named, is one of several long-time members of the LucasArts talent pool let go, many of which had worked on titles including X-Wing, Full Throttle, and Grim Fandango.
It gets even worse: if The Force Unleashed were to become a success and a sequel would be ordered, the current team would be too small to create that game which means LucasArts would have to start hiring again (after having lost some of their top talent) or... outsource to a third party developer which means their previously stated "commitment to internal development" was bullshit.In other news:
